Chemical Peels

A professional chemical peel is a skin treatment performed by a licensed medical provider designed to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. It involves applying a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the outer layer to exfoliate and peel off. This process reveals fresher, smoother skin beneath.

There are different types of chemical peels, categorized by the depth of the peel:

  • Superficial Peels: Also called light peels, these use mild acids (like alpha hydroxy acid or glycolic acid) to gently exfoliate the outer layer of the skin. They are great for treating mild skin discoloration, fine lines, and acne.
  • Medium Peels: These penetrate deeper into the skin, often using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or a stronger glycolic acid. Medium peels are used to treat more significant skin issues like age spots, deeper wrinkles, or moderate acne scars.
  • Deep Peels: These are the strongest type, typically using phenol. They penetrate deeper into the skin and are often used to treat severe sun damage, deep wrinkles, or more significant scarring. Recovery can be more intense and prolonged.

A professional chemical peel can help improve skin tone, texture, and clarity, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and address issues like acne, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.
